Behaviour

At Shenley Lodge as with all homes we expect you to try and be respectful towards those that are supporting you, that includes any school or education staff as well as those in the home.

We understand that at times it is difficult to manage your emotions but we are here to support you with that.

If you do struggle to keep yourself regulated and begin to physically harm yourself or others, we may need to carry out a physical intervention. This is where staff will hold you, this will then keep you and others safe.

We will do this safely and with dignity, and we will only do this if we feel it is absolutely necessary, we are all trained to know how to do this, and will only do it for as long as its needed to keep everyone safe.

We have lots of techniques we will use to avoid this, and we will work with you to find out what works best for you. This could be encouraging you to go for a walk or engage in a something to keep you distracted and focused on something else.

After any time we need to use physical intervention you will be given the chance to talk about what happened and how this made you feel. We will also use this time to explore alternatives to help you to manage yourself.

Being listened to...

Allowances

You will receive allowancesfor clothes, toiletries, activities and savings. Money will be available for you to go on activities and you will be given the chance to pick what you would like to do. You will be able to go and buy new clothes, shoes , get your hair done and lots more...

The home will keep your money safe for you. This will then be handed to you upon request if you are able to handle money yourself. Otherwise we willsupport you when you are making any purchases. This will make sure you remember any boundaries that may be in place around money.

Security and Safety

Your Space

In the event of the fire alarm sounding, You must:

  • Leave the building immediately via the nearest
exit, listen out for instructions from the staf
  • Do NOT stop to collect personal belongings
  • Make your way to the assembly point and stay
there until your told to move
  • Do NOT re-enter the home until
you are told it is safe to do so

Missing from home

We do not want you to go missing from home, especially when you are new to the area and not too sure of your surroundings.

If you do go missing we will do everything we can to try and find you and keep you safe. When you move in a plan called a Missing From Care Protocol will be made. This is the plan the home will follow if you do go missing, to keep you safe.

If you are feeling upset, always let someone know if you need some space and to go for a walk, they will support you. If you do not want to talk, that is fine.

behind you, giving you space but will make sure you are safe but still have your own space.
